The Sri Lanka One Health University Network (SLOHUN) was established following Senate approval granted in February 2025. The network was officially launched during the FMAS Sessions in May 2025 as the first One Health University Network in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Universities of Peradeniya and Jaffna, with the University of Ruhuna serving as the lead institution.
The long-term goals of the network include expanding the SLOHUN membership, promoting One Health research on emerging diseases, strengthening and exchanging a skilled One Health workforce, developing institutional training and educational opportunities, and establishing systems, policies, and procedures to support these initiatives.

To develop a long-lasting university network through the expansion of universities and other institutions to advance the One Health workforce and to promote One Health approaches by developing research projects, conducting training and performing community service activities.
